Art for social change

Between 1998 and 2003, through the Art For Social Change (AFSC) programme, the ECF explored the potential of the arts within particular social and cultural contexts.

During this period we focused on the creative relationship between artists and young people in 11 countries of Eastern Europe. We supported artistic projects and art organizations where creative work is done as a joint endeavor of all the participants, including both professionals and non professionals.

The ALMOSTREAL conference in Utrecht in March 2004 officially closed the Art For Social Change programme.

Now, in cooperation with an international group of advisors, the ECF is building on the wealth of material and knowledge generated by the programme and the conference, in articulating a new ECF arts programme.

Our ambition is to broaden the new programme (both geographically and conceptually) while keeping the main focus firmly on the issues of artistic and social relevance. Go to ALMOSTREAL.
