Mobility

Mobility page pictureMobility is the life-blood of cultural cooperation. Artists and cultural workers need to move easily across borders to meet their international peers, exchange views, cooperate, and influence one another.

Our mobility fund STEP beyond stimulates and supports cross-cultural creative projects, enabling artists and cultural workers to:

  • Collaborate and exchange
  • Network and explore unfamiliar ground and different ways of working
  •

As of January 2009, the STEP beyond application and grant giving procedures have changed!

Your applications must now be submitted via our website (follow the link below).

BEFORE, you could be awarded with a STEP grant for a maximum of two times in total - NOW you will be able to apply again after a period of 5 years (counting from the date of the second STEP grant).

We support mobility across all European countries, EU and non-EU. This support extends to the South Caucasus countries of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan thanks to co-funding by the Open Society Institute in Budapest. ECF has a special focus on Experiencing diversity and the Power of Culture for 2006-2010, so STEP beyond supports travels with a clear relation to the ECF's focus on Diversity in Europe.

We also stimulate creative mobility through our support to the Roberto Cimetta Fund, which promotes exchanges in the field of contemporary performing arts and visual arts in the Mediterranean area.

For other funding options, we advise you to search on the ‘Funding' section at LabforCulture.org, here you can find more information regarding funding possibilities for European arts and culture.

We can also recommend you to visit the website on-the-move for further information. This organisation with which the ECF has worked with on several occasions provides information about international activities, projects and funding in the performing arts.
