Cultural Actors of Change in Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova

At the ECF, we are strongly committed to the promotion of cultural cooperation and the notion of 'the wider Europe'.

However, we did not have much knowledge of and experience in working with the countries of Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova.

So we launched a series of reflection (and advocacy) processes with cultural experts & operators, policy makers and artists of the 3 countries. We call this group our Eastern Reflection Group.

In spring and summer 2007 we had highly inspiring and constructive meetings. Through this common research work on cooperation in and with the Eastern European neighbourhood, we strive for a much clearer understanding of the issues at stake, cultural-political conditions in place and possibilities of change.

A report per region was written, giving a balanced view on the intertwined political and cultural issues at stake in the countries, as well as making already some recommendations with regards to avenues for change, each time contextualised and based on the results of the questionnaires, interviews and regional meetings organised this summer.

Interested in the Reports and the final synthesis of the three?

They are available in an attractive printed format, as produced by our partner the U.S. German Marshall Fund (GMF). If you want to order the print version, please contact Tsveta Andreeva
