General

The platform for Intercultural Europe is a concrete legacy of the european year of intercultural dialogue 2008. Launched in partnership with the culture action europe, this cross-sectoral civil society initiative gathers today nearly 400 organisations that are committed to intercultural dialogue as practice but also policy objective. It aims to advance the agenda of interculturalism from the local to the European policy level. Its establishment acts both as a mark of what has been achieved and a spur for future development.

All information about the Platform, active membership etc can be found on the official site of the Platform at www.intercultural-europe.org

The platform & diversity

Activities focus on capacity-building of organizations in the way they meet the diversity challenge, and on political leverage and advocacy. The platform approaches the topic of diversity on two fronts. It explores Europe's diversity as it has been fashioned by history and demography as well as the ‘new diversity' resulting from recent migration. Special attention is given to urban contexts where diversity is most directly experienced. Learning from diversity and using its potential to the full guide every of its actions.

WHO

While the Platform is an initiative of the cultural sector, organizations from the fields of education, youth, social affairs, human rights, migration, anti-discrimination, etc., are invited as equal partners to shape the Platform. Cross-sector collaboration is key to the Platform's aim of advancing learning from the intercultural experience.
