Winners first StrangerFestival announced
Saturday 5 July: During the festive Awards Ceremony the winners of the StrangerAwards 2008 were announced. StrangerFestival is special initiative for young European videomakers centering on the curiosity for the ´other´, in order to address the issue of diversity with a positive message. The international jury was impressed by the quality of the videos uploaded on www.strangerfestival.com
Winner Official StrangerAward: Maciek Salamon (Poland) with The walk.
Winner MTV StrangerAward: Sylvain Koko Kinshasa (Congo) with Alimentation d'un congolais moyen.
Winner Amsterdam Award: Abid Mankachi (Netherlands) with Bien Venue.
Winner Audience Award: Lucasz Laskowski (Poland) with Scriptwriter.
Winner Best of the world: Ron von Jacobs (Belgium) with .A priori.
Winner Inside Out: Zarina Pashtova (Russia) with Untitled.
Winner Selfportrait: Peter Vodicka (Slovakia) with Who I am (not).
A special award was for Nanda Swiersema (Netherlands), who's entry I am Nanda showed best how video can be used as a new medium, said the jury.
