Sugar Rush
SUGAR RUSH is: Nina Fajdiga, Jasmina Križaj & Tina Valentan. Their performance takes you on a journey of unbearable sweetness and invokes the thought of a shared community through dance and music, to create the memory of a paradise that never existed, and yet is forever gone.
The performance reflects on a collection of personal and inaccurate childhood memories of Yugoslavia, a country torn apart by war that no longer exists. SUGAR RUSH doesn't try to make a political statement, instead the three dancers give an unique insight (from different perspectives) on their own personal childhoods, in an attempt to purify and give a better understanding of the subject.
The avant première was hosted by the Melkweg in Amsterdam on 17th, 18th and 19th of June. In September and October they perform in Slovenia at the following dates and venues:
- Slovene premiere: 12th of September '09 - Festival NAGIB, Maribor, Slovenia
- Premiere in Ljubljana: 8th of October '09 - Oppening event of Dutch-Slovene Fokus activities, organized by Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ljubljana; preformance will be performed in Old Power Station / Stara mestna elektrarna - Elektro Ljubljana, Slovenia
