Through the use of comics the exhibition „Czech Made?" shows the conditions in which migrant workers live and work in conpemporary Czech society. These comics are inspired on stories of migrant workers that were interviewed during the research for the project "Czech Made?".
This project is set out to raise more public awareness about the exploitation of migrant workers in various sectors of the Czech economy. The central element of this project is research regarding the current employment situation of foreigners in the Czech Republic.
This research was set out to learn more about who these migrant workers are and why they came to the Czech Republic? It also brings to light who benefits from their exploitation and what the effects of their presence are on the Czech society. This investigative research resulted in several published articles that inspired the exhibition „Czech Made?" and served as a base for the comics.
This exhibition was translated to English and was on display in Strasbourg in the European Parliament building from 4 to 7 May.
The creation of this English version of the exhibition and its display in Strasbourg were supported by a grant of the European Cultural Foundation to the former Czech Forum of the ECF.
