Grants
Grants are the core of our work. We are always looking for projects by individuals and organisations that have the potential to inspire people to transcend boundaries.
ECF grants stimulate transnational cultural collaboration, artistic expression and the mobility of artists and cultural actors. There are four different grant schemes -- Collaboration, Balkan Incentive Fund for Culture, STEP beyond travel and Artistic Grants -- which directly relate to specific regions across wider Europe and different activities.
Our overarching theme for the next three years will be Narratives for Europe that seeks to create spaces where collective stories and representations can be shared and negotiated. We believe artists and cultural organisations can play a powerful role in bringing change by working and sharing narratives across borders. Grant applicants should also be aware that all our activities revolve around the following three guiding principles:
- Empowerment of people through art and culture: we want to support different communities in Europe and particularly encourage the exchange and empowerment of under-represented groups.
- Connecting sources of knowledge: we believe sharing and connecting knowledge is vital in creating an open Europe.
- Linking policy and practice: we are interested in projects that help build an open Europe by contributing to cultural policy development locally, nationally, regionally and at an European level.
